It's been a while...

Well, I almost hit the 23 day mark.....again! Whoops! Sorry about that. I've been mad busy. I know, I know, I say that all the time. But this time it is true to the core! The latest and greatest?? Well, the monsters have been silent for the past few days. They mutter things every now and again, but nothing really blogworthy. But I will share this:

Yesterday, we were in Wallymart and the boys were asking me about buying them another game for the Wii. I said "No" like I do most times when it comes to that subject and move quickly onto another topic. But before I do, I tell them that buying video games and toys that hypnotize and buying candy that rots your teeth are for grandparents to buy, leaving the parents in the wake of their destruction of being spoiled rotten. [This is their way of getting revenge for what we as kids put them through].

Yeah Mom, I can remember - (Insert thought bubble)
The monsters were up at my Mom's for a week over a summer some time ago and I was doing my nightly check-in of how things were going and to tell the boys goodnight before going to bed. I believe it was about 9 or 10 or so. I spoke with Mom a bit before she put them on the phone.

Of course, I don't have their full attention and they really couldn't be bothered to speak to me. Why, you ask?

Me: Hey, Bubba!
Thing 2: Hi. (he says kind of curt)
Me: You guys have a good time today?
Thing 2: Yeah.
Me: Where's Destry?
Thing 2: Right here.
Me: What are you doing right now? Are you ready for bed?
Thing2: Uh, Mom. Can we stay here?
Me: You ARE staying there. I'm not pickin you up yet, you just got there yesterday!
Thing2: No, I mean stay here! Me and Destry!
Me: Declan, you don't have to spend just one night, you ARE staying there.
Thing2: No, I mean live here. Can we live with Grammy?
Me: What?? Live with Grammy? (I hear giggling in the background of someone who is delighted and tickled pink all at the same time). Put Grammy on the phone.
Mom: (Chuckling quietly) Did you hear that? He wants to live with Grammy! (Chuckle, chuckle) It's so cute!
Me: Mom! What time is it now?
Mom: About 10:30. (Chuckling - very smug and tickled still....)
Me: And what time did you let the boys go downstairs to play?
Mom: Well, they asked if they could play after breakfast. I think it's so cute he told you he wanted to live with Grammy!!
Me: Well Mom, if I let them play the Play Station for TWELVE HOURS, they might wanna just stay here too and never want to leave!! C'mon Mom, you gotta get a handle on this. They shouldn't be playing that long.
Mom: I know. I know. It's only been two days, well, a day and half.
Me: My son had a day and half with you and he already wants to live with you.....Great!!

See - that's what I'm talking about. Grandparents.....gotta love'em!

So, back to my story. The boys are asking about video games and I tell them no and that they were spoiled for thinking that everytime we go somewhere we need to buy them something. I believe we created that in the monsters, I will take some of the blame. But now that they are getting older, the "No's" are coming more frequently. So, shortly after that conversation, I hear this voice in the background saying:

"I'm not spoiled, I deserve everything I get." It was said so matter of factly, it was quite scary. And of course, that's what monsters do, scare. So, after I chuckled to myself and gained my composure, I turn around to tell this kid a thing or two only to find that he was reading aloud a birthday card in the store. How befitting and perfect. Declan once again has the timing (whether planned or not) of a modern day comedian. I must say that he gets his wit from my Hero and Thing1 gets his smart-alec commentary from me. They are quite the pair.

I Was Tagged and Then I Just Stood There...

Sorry Amber. I just plum forgot. Yeah, she tagged like eons ago, and I completely flaked on the whole thing. I had to go back in time to remember what to do. I've run my updates and I'm ready to go;

First, there are rules:

The Rules:

1. Post the rules on your blog.
2. Write 6 random things about yourself.
3. Tag 6 people at the end of your post.
4. If you're tagged, DO IT and pass on the tag.

Random things??? Random, random, random..... I don't know much and I certainly don't know 6 people! Oh Great. But here I go...

#1 I married my best friend and I'm the luckiest girl in the world because of it!

#2 I will start 300 projects and be content not to finish one.

#3 I do not do well when the joke is on me, especially when it comes to age. It hurts. It makes me want to crawl into a dark cave or under the covers, whichever is closer LOL

#4 Sometimes, all I ever want is that little girl.

#6 I will laugh at the same commercial over and over again. If it's funny the first time, it's funny the 500th time!

Tagging....

1. Kelsey - I hope you visit often
2. Dazed (Meagan?)
3. Chris - Go ahead, give in, you know you want to start a blog! LOL
4. Libby - I would visit often, I swear! (your blog that is)
5. The Glassford Gang
6. Carrie

Okay, if I'm lucky enough to have those tagged respond....then it's a good day! Well, it'll still be a good one, its football season! Not much gonna spoil that mood! Go Vikes!
